Thornhill Art Group

Thornhill is an eastern suburb on the outskirts of Southampton that has a large number of walk-up residential blocks. It is an area recognised for social deprivation, being one of 39 UK regions chosen in 1999 for the New Deal for Communities. Over £50 million was invested in the area in 2000 that was spent over a 10 year period on a large number of diverse regeneration projects.

Thornhill Art Group (TAG) consists of around 15-20 members of the Thornhill community that meet every Monday afternoon to learn and work creatively on artistic projects. Tuition is provided by Hopeweavers, notably by Jacqui Lea, Sandie Schulkins and Lynda Owen-Hussey, and other visiting artists, such as Val Corcoran.
